How to transfer contacts from one phone to another
If you just bought a new phone, the first thing you would do is to copy all your contacts from your old phone and save it on your new phone. There are many ways to transfer contacts from one phone to another.
Below are different ways you can move contacts between phones. Bluetooth: You can also send contacts from one phone to another using bluetooth. After the mobiles are connected or paired by bluetooth, choose the option of sending the contacts via bluetooth and press send in your old phone. Once you receive the contacts on your new phone, save the contacts in the phone memory.
SIM card transfer: Phone contacts also be transferred using a SIM card. You can copy all the contacts from you old phone into your SIM card and transfer to your new phone by coping the contacts from the SIM and saving it into the phone memory.
Most phones like Nokia have the option “Copy contacts to SIM”. After doing this you put the Sim card in the new phone and choose “Copy contacts from sim to phone” or similar and the contacts will be copied.
Only problem with SIM transfer is you can move only 300 contacts with one go. Also is you have contacts with bigger name they may get truncated.
Transfer contacts through a computer: If you are not able to copy contacts using either bluetooth or SIM card, you can use a computer to transfer contacts between two phones.
The contacts from one phone can be transferred to a computer using a data cable or through bluetooth.
Once the computer detects the phone, go to your phone’s contacts and save the contacts in a file on your computer after which the same can be transferred to your new phone.
Transfer using PC Suite: Phone contacts can also be transferred using the your phone’s PC Suite.
Most phones come with a software which allow you to synchronise your phone book with your computer. For example, the Nokia PC Suite, Samsung Kies,Sony Ericsson PC Suite etc. You should have received a copy of this software with your phone or you can download from the phone manufacturer’s website.
Using your phone’s PC Suite, copy the contacts from your old phone and save it in your new phone.
Syncing to Outlook from the PC Suite: Use the sync software for your old phone to copy the contacts from your old phone into Microsoft Outlook. Then use the sync software for your new phone to copy your contacts from Outlook into your new phone.
Transferring via Memory Card: You can also transfer contacts by saving or backing up your contacts in your memory card. The memory card can be inserted in your new phone and restored. This option is available only in phones like samsung, which allow you to backup onto memory card
By using any of the above techniques you can update your new phone with all the contacts.
